Fortified wine is wine with which a spirit has been added to ‘fortify’ the wine. This was created in the past to preserve wine for a longer period of time. Despite new methods of preserving wine this style persists to this day due to complex flavours and aromas within the finished bottle. Port is possibly the most famous, but this category also includes Sherry, Madeira, Marsala and more.
Mira la Mar Manzanilla Sherry Spain 37.5cl is a lovely pale light Manzanilla - like the Fino but lighter and dryer for everyday drinking. A fortified dry white wine with pronounced nutty aromas and hints of yeast. The palate is light with beautiful salty characters and hints of nuts and olives. The Grape variety is mainly Palominol.
The nose is intense with notes of marmalade, orange blossom and dried fruits. The palate is sweet and well balanced with a fresh acidity and notes of floral flavours, orange, golden syrup and treacle.
Predominantly nutty bouquet (walnuts), with toasted, vegetable and balsamic notes reminiscent of noble wood, golden tobacco and autumn leaves. There are noticeable spicy, animal tones suggestive of truffles and leather. Full flavoured and structured in the mouth. Powerful, well-rounded and full bodied.
Rubis Chocolate Wine is a sumptuous infusion of Spanish Tempranillo grapes and precious essence of cacao, which together create an extraordinary taste sensation.
Tío Pepe en Rama is the purest expression of the vineyard and the winery. A wild, unfiltered wine, en rama, that retains all the strength and subtlety of its origin and aging. The albariza and the flor blend in perfect harmony to create an exceptional fino.
Crisp, fresh and uncompromisingly dry. Sharp yet elegant aromas of the flor yeast and toasted almonds. Completely dry on the palate with reminders of almonds.
Characteristically elegant, full bodied with a firm finish from powerful tannins. With concentrated fruits and well integrated alcohol with a spicy, peppery sweetness.
