Cherry Heering's simple recipe of whole red cherries, spices, sugar and alcohol, has been a winner since 1818. Try with the Singapore Sling or Blood and Sand.

On the nose a creamy, aromatic melange of vanilla custard, hints of aniseed, lemon curd and butter toffee. Wood shavings and dried banana chips develop with just a hint of cassis. More of those banana chips showing through on the palate, this time theres a creamy hit of barley malt too, pepped up with a little allspice. Notes of ground walnut and caramel. Light spice and black pepper on the tail. Lingering notes of cereal sweetness.

The nose offers marmalade and malt, a hint of custard, coconut ice and nutmeg. Winter spices and malt on the palate with barley, Seville orange marmalade and oak. The finish is spiced and warming with oak and cinnamon.

The super-fruity aroma suggests peaches and pears. On the palate, it s more lean and green, with jalapeno pepper and black pepper smoothed with agave. The fruitiness just peeks out on the finish.

Powerfully smoky rum from the Cut Rum range. Made with a base of Jamaican rum and smoked using oak chips, this will stand out in cocktails and might make for an intriguing alternative postprandial tipples for people with a penchant for peaty whisky.

Bold vanilla bean and sweet toasted caramel accents - think creme brulee or toasted marshmallows. Further notes of toasted orange, pancake batter, buttery fudge, clove, warm cinnamon and ginger, aniseed, nutmeg and coriander seed. Mellow and smooth oak tones with a bite of pepper to finish.

Deep ruddy brown colour with a soft medicinal and herbaceous character balanced by bittersweet chocolate and organge zest on the gently warming finish. This is an excellent digestive on ice but also can be used in many cocktails including a variation on the iconic Negroni.

Clean and fresh, with heather honey, pears, a touch of toffee and a soft floral note. Bright and fruity, but also rich, with notes of steamed syrup pudding and sponge cake, with a little cinnamon and nutmeg. Just enough spice to match the fruit. Lovely balance.
